Make Pizza Without an Oven

pizza without an oven

Are you waiting on a new oven? Did student housing only come with a hotplate? Do you still want pizza? Skip delivery and use this hack for making pizza without an oven instead. This will work for frozen pizzas as well as with any standard pizza recipe (just replace the part about the oven and ignore the suggested time). You will need to find a frying pan big enough for your pizza, coat the pan with olive oil, add your pizza, put a lid on to seal in the heat, and put it on a very low heat that would only be enough to simmer water. In 20-22 minutes, you will have a pizza that is golden brown on the bottom and cooked all the way through. It’s a pizza in a pan!

bread without yeast

Are you standing in the kitchen with a bag of flour, a plan to make bread, and no packet of yeast in sight? Don’t fret. We came up with the perfect no-yeast bread. Make a nice light and flavorful sandwich bread without yeast by following this recipe.
You will need:
3 cups of flour
1 tablespoon of sugar
1 tablespoon of vinegar
2 teaspoons of baking powder
2 teaspoons of baking soda
1 teaspoon of salt
1 and ½ cups of milk
¼ cup of softened butter
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Mix the dry and wet ingredients separately and then stir them together until they form a uniform dough. Use a Potato to Remove Rust From a Pan

remove rust from a pan

Did you know that raw potatoes contain an acid that can dissolve rust? You may never be able to look at a potato the same way again. Just slice this root vegetable in half and start rubbing the surface of the pan with it. If you need extra scrubbing power to remove rust from a pan, use the outside of the potato to take advantage of the rough skin or add some salt to scrub away serious rust. Let it sit for ten minutes, give a final scrub, and then wash the pan as usual. The rust will be gone.

Use a Kitchen Glove to Open Stuck Jars in an Instant

open stuck jars

Are there jars that just make you want to scream or completely change your plan on what’s for dinner? If you have already tried sheer force, running it under hot water, or the very questionable banging of that glass jar against something when trying to open stuck jars, here’s a trick that will always work. Just find a kitchen glove (we know there is one somewhere in the kitchen), put it on, and then grab that lid to open stuck jars. The rubber surface will give you a much more secure grip, making jar opening a breeze.

Frozen Banana Snacks – A Refreshing and Healthy Treat

frozen banana snacks

While frozen banana snacks are almost always coated in chocolate, they don’t have to be. However, if you like frozen bananas covered in chocolate, please don’t let us stop you! For this refreshing treat, we’re keeping it simple. Take a ripe to very ripe banana and slice it in to bite-sized slices. For Home Hacks bonus points, check out our hack on how to cut bananas without a cutting board and you won’t even dirty a cutting board in the process. Be sure to slice the banana and not just freeze it with the peal on (trying to extract the frozen banana from the frozen peal is a real challenge). Take your slices and put them into a ziploc bag. Gently remove whatever air you can from the bag as you seal it up to avoid condensation and ice crystals. The next time you’re looking for a tasty treat on a hot day, reach for your frozen banana snacks (and a chocolate bar if needed).
