lift a stain

Do you have stubborn stains on tile or other surfaces? Have you already tried scrubbing without any major success? This works amazingly for deep-set and stubborn stains on everything from porcelain to cloth. The major exceptions are wood and metal. Simply cover the stain with baking soda first and then pour on the vinegar to lift a stain. When the two cleaning ingredients combine, there will be an instant chemical reaction creating a strong foam that will lift even the toughest berry, ink, or coffee stains.

Make Pizza Without an Oven

pizza without an oven

Are you waiting on a new oven? Did student housing only come with a hotplate? Do you still want pizza? Skip delivery and use this hack for making pizza without an oven instead. This will work for frozen pizzas as well as with any standard pizza recipe (just replace the part about the oven and ignore the suggested time). You will need to find a frying pan big enough for your pizza, coat the pan with olive oil, add your pizza, put a lid on to seal in the heat, and put it on a very low heat that would only be enough to simmer water. In 20-22 minutes, you will have a pizza that is golden brown on the bottom and cooked all the way through. It’s a pizza in a pan!

Repel Slugs and Snails with Coffee Grounds

Repel slugs

Coffee grounds are the perfect solution for a garden in so many ways. They attract worms to aerate the soil and act as a natural fertilizer. They also have another less well-known use. They repel slugs and snails. What can’t coffee grounds do, seriously? To reap the snail and slug repelling benefits, save your coffee grounds and sprinkle them in a circle on the soil around each plant. Snails and slugs don’t like the gritty texture and will avoid going over it to reach your plants. Now, that’s something to celebrate with another cup of coffee.

Make Your Own Natural Dryer Sheets

natural dryer sheets

Are you tired of purchasing dryer sheets? You’re not alone. Simply cut up some old clean rags or a towel and place them into a jar containing a mixture of white vinegar and a few drops of your favorite essential oil. Wring them out and hang them up to dry. Once they are dry, you’ll have a stack of natural dryer sheets ready to throw in with your next load of laundry. Each dryer sheet can be reused about half a dozen times before it needs to be revived. If you still want that official dryer sheet scent, skip the vinegar and essential oil and dip your reusable dryer sheets in fabric softener instead.

Use a Potato to Remove Rust From a Pan

remove rust from a pan

Did you know that raw potatoes contain an acid that can dissolve rust? You may never be able to look at a potato the same way again. Just slice this root vegetable in half and start rubbing the surface of the pan with it. If you need extra scrubbing power to remove rust from a pan, use the outside of the potato to take advantage of the rough skin or add some salt to scrub away serious rust. Let it sit for ten minutes, give a final scrub, and then wash the pan as usual. The rust will be gone.
